I'm going to take my car to get an oil change at the Honda dealer and I'm a little worried of what I've heard of the experiences other people have had with dealers in oil changes. Some say they get charged for 5 quarts, when that's really over how much they're really supposed to get in their car. Others say to ask for the leftover oil (that there should be at least a little under half a bottle).
I have a 07 Honda Accord V6 45k miles
I don't have the owners manual b/c the person I bought it from had lost it.
How many quarts of oil do I need to make sure my car received before paying after service?
I want good quality oil for my vehicle, is there anything specific I should ask/demand for?
Do they use synthetic oil, should I tell them to use synthetic oil?
Any other tips with dealing with honda dealer for maintenance?

V6 takes 5 quarts with a filter change get 5-40 fully synthetic oil which I think honda use anyway 5-20 is too thin for a 2007 car(OK in a new one) unless you live in alaska

You're right, 5qts IS too much. It's always less than the spec says. Mine is about 3.8 qts and I have a 5.2L V-8 that calls for 5qts. and I always change the filter.
The best thing is to change yourself, but short of that, find a local garage that your neighbors recommend and go there. 20 bucks is a good deal, not 30.
Don't ask for Mobil syn. You can ask for a semi/syn if it's no more. If it's just $2 more go for it. Mobil 1 syn will cost you at least $10/qt!
Turd Turde says:
Never take your car to a dealer for anything other than factory 100% paid services.
Never take your car to any of the franchise type auto service places.
Find an independent mechanic and have your service done there.
Better trained mechanics, no pressure from "service adviser" or salesmen trying to sell you on services you don't need, and lower costs.

Honda dealer will only use Honda brand oil. It takes 4.5 quarts of 5w20 or 5w30
Tim O says:
Your car holds 5 qt with the filter. That means the car will take 4 qt and 1 for the filter there for 5

If you know how to open the hood, there should be a sticker right on top by the latch that tells how many quarts of oil it takes. 5 quarts is probably right for a V6. It won't be less. They won't use synthetic oil unless you ask, then they probably charge a lot more (guessing). If you get your oil changed regularly, the cheap stuff should be good enough. If you are a slacker, and go 20,000 between changes you should get the best they have.
